If you trip falls towards end of May then you can visit the Essenso Lavender.
In winter, stay for skiing and snowboarding in the Caucasus Mountains, while in summer there’s an excellent range of adrenaline-fuelled activities including quad-biking, shooting, paragliding and hiking. If you head to Yengija or Chenot Palace it’s possible to benefit from thermal springs, take medicinal baths in heavy petroleum oil or undergo cryotherapy. |
Diri Baba Mausoleum
Diri Baba is a two-storied mausoleum-mosque of the 15th century. The mausoleum stands in a square located on a glyptic cliff in Maraza village. The monument was built of white limestone in a cave hollowed out of a rock in 1402. They say that the monument was built by Shirvanshah Sheikh Ibrahim I. The tomb "Diri Baba" refers to the Shirvan-Absheron architecture of the Middle Ages. The monument consists of two floors with a dome. The main part of the monument is the second floor with a wide square room. |
Shamakhi Alpaca Farm
It lies not far from Meysari vineyards. With their soft and sweet appearance, they make you want to hug them as soon as you see them. Alpacas are naturally interested in everything and have a friendly nature. Visitors to the farm have the opportunity to meet and feed a large family of alpacas. Children can find more fun at the farm’s playground, equipped with various attractions. And you can make sure your memories last longer by buying handicrafts, shirts, hats and other souvenirs sold in the gift shop. |
Cable Car at Tufandag Mountain Resort
The cable car journey begins at the base station and ascends towards the Tufandag Mountain Resort. The whole ride can take around 2 to 3 hours and offers an unparalleled perspective of Gabala's stunning natural beauty. Spanning a distance of approximately 6 kilometers, the cable car goes up to a height of 1600-1900 meters. It is divided into 2 levels, each having 2 stations. You will be required to switch the cable car at the first level to reach the top. All the stations have viewpoints and cafes. where you can relax and enjoy the picturesque views of the Caucasus. Its breathtaking in winters. |
Lavender Fields
Discover the beauty and wonders of lavender in north-west Azerbaijan, where the fragrant purple fields belonging to the Essenso lavender plantation. The 30-hectare lavender farm lies amid stunning countryside in the village of Chukhur Gabala, also home to the fascinating archaeological ruins of ancient Gabala. Visiting the Essenso farm to admire the purple fields, soak up the wonderful fragrance in the air, learn all about lavender cultivation, and sample a range of medicinal products, from aromatic oils to lavender honey, will fill you with positive energy. |
Seven Beauties Waterfall
The “Seven Beauties” waterfalls are located in Vendam settlement of Gabala city. This waterfall is near the village of Ruskan. This series of modest cascades with wooden access stairs is pretty enough as a place to sit on a tea platform in the cool of the forest, but the sheer number of tourists in summer tends to undermine the low-key charm while in winter the teahouses shut down. The falls are a 400m walk from the car park. It's in a steep-cut side valley north of Rusiyan village, 3.5km off the main Baku road and accessed via an unpaved lane that is sometimes very muddy. |
Nohurgol Lake
Located about 5 km. east of the Gabala city, the lake is surrounded by the forests and high mountains called Yumru, Goydag and Gulluburun. The lake covers 240 ha in total and has the maximum depth of 24 meters. In winter, the thickness of the ice cover on the surface of the lake can reach 40-50 cm. Although swimming is prohibited, boats with rowers ply the lake, and anyone can ride from one shore to another. |
Mud Volcanoes
On top of utterly unpromising little Daşgil Hill is a weird collection of baby mud volcanoes, a whole family of ‘geologically flatulent’ little conical mounds that gurgle, ooze, spit and sometimes erupt with thick, cold, grey mud. It’s more entertaining than it sounds – even when activity is at a low ebb, you get the eerie feeling that the volcanoes are alive. |

Mountain Swing
Adrenaline filled excitement awaits on the Sleeping Beauty peak in Tufandag. Enjoy sensational views of the mountain peaks and forested slopes under your feet as you swing. There are two swings (7 and 20 metres high). An observation spot nearby is an amazing experience (especially in winters) and makes for great instagrammable photos. |
Thermal Springs
There are more than 30 deposits of thermal mineral waters with different concentrations, sulphur levels and organic substances in the Caucasus and three of them are located in the charming city of Gabala, which is located at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains. Great for balneotherapy treatments and state-of-the-art cryotherapy. |
Skiing
For skiing enthusiasts Tufandag, just 4 kilometres from Gabala city centre, offers 12 kilometres of slopes in the Caucasus Mountains offer a mix of challenging reds and blacks for experts and easy options for beginners. The slopes are kitted out with state-of-the-art snow guns a ski school and accessed by a network of cable cars, which offer gorgeous views. |
Adventure Sports
From rifle shooting to hiking to cycling to paragliding, it's all here. Jeep safaris that whisk you off into the spectacular Caucasus Mountains with stops for an authentic meal experience. Rafting can be enjoyed in the village of Savalan on the banks of the Turyanchay River along a scenic 11-kilometre stretch of the Turyanchay river. |
